Over the past 90 years or so, GM's bowtie brand has been applauded for selling some of the most recognizable cars in our country's automotive history. The utility vehicle we know today as the Chevrolet Suburban originated in 1935 as the Suburban Carryall; the unmistakable Chevrolet Corvette, the first mass-produced vehicle using plastic body panels, began its life in 1953; today's family-friendly Malibu sedan can be traced back, if in name only, to the first Chevrolet Malibu in 1964; and in 1967, the Chevrolet Camaro was created as an answer to the incredibly popular Ford Mustang. Of course there have been other Chevrolets worthy of mention, including the Chevy Impala and Chevy El Camino, though many of us would like to forget about examples such as the Chevrolet Chevette and Chevrolet Citation. Interestingly, GM formed an alliance in the 1980s with its primary Japanese rival, Toyota, and sold a jointly-built vehicle as the Chevrolet Nova. That car was mixed in with a number of lackluster vehicles like the Chevy Cavalier and the S-10 Blazer, each since improved upon and replaced by the Chevrolet Cobalt and Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Over the past few years, the goal for Chevrolet has been to deliver cars, trucks and SUVs that exhibited greater quality and innovation than what previous owners had grown to expect. As a result, redesigned versions of models including the Chevrolet Silverado and Chevrolet Malibu offer improved fit and finish as well as hybrid variants. A 100,000-mile powertrain warranty backs it all up. That heightened focus on quality is due to continue with the launch of two small, efficient new models.
